“Nawwāra for Well-Being”: A Pioneering Step toward Supporting the Early Childhood Workforce

17 November 2025

What is Nawwāra?
Nawwara for Well Being is an initiative launched by the Arab Network for Early Childhood (ANECD) to support the mental health and professional wellbeing of early childhood front liners in Lebanon. In 2023, the initiative developed its core content and created the first interactive Arabic platform dedicated to mental health and psychosocial support. The platform now includes more than 200 reliable scientific resources in Arabic and English, such as guides, tools, and evidence-based studies. Although still in an early launch phase, it represents an important step toward improving access to psychological knowledge in Arabic and encouraging the exchange of professional practices in the field.

Implementation Phase
In August 2025, the implementation phase began with the participation of 51 early childhood front liners from across Lebanon. The program consisted of ten interactive sessions on topics such as psychological immunity, burnout, work–life balance, resilience, and self-compassion, along with individualized follow-up calls conducted by mentors after each session. The project also included distributing rich self-care kits and organizing a Self-Care Day in the Barouk area, which offered evidence-based activities focused on relaxation, connection, and wellbeing.

In the evaluation, this phase witnessed remarkable engagement from participants with no withdrawal reported. Participants confirmed the positive impact of the experience on their mental health and professional balance, reflecting the importance of investing in the early childhood workforce as an essential component of children’s own wellbeing.

Future Projects
In the coming period, the Nawwāra team will work on regional expansion by collaborating with six Arab countries to develop a Regional MHPSS in Crisis Guide for early childhood front liners. The guide aims to provide practical, clear instructions and psychosocial strategies for emergency contexts, while enhancing the capacity of front liners to cope with stressors and challenges in the field.

Future plans also include enriching the platform with additional high-quality resources, conducting awareness campaigns on social media, and preparing a series of webinars to support the exchange of knowledge and expertise among specialists in the region.
