Africa's Children 2026 Statistical Compendium
20 May 2026
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the African Union Commission (AUC), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) released the second edition of “Africa’s Children Statistical Compendium 2026” (AfCSC).
This compendium presents a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the status of children across the 55 Member States of the African Union. It delivers vital insights on key indicators, including child mortality, health, nutrition, education, protection, and social policy. This data is disaggregated by Regional Economic Commissions to support evidence-based decision-making, resource allocation, and advocacy. Aligned with the African Union’s Year of Water and Sanitation, the publication places a special emphasis on child-focused Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) data. Ultimately, this focus aims to strengthen monitoring and accountability across the continent.
