ANECD Participates in Meeting on “INEE Minimum Standards in Lebanon”
25 November 2025
The Arab Network for Early Childhood (ANECD) participated in the dialogue meeting organized by the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) and the Arab Network for Popular Education/ the Lebanese Education Coalition (ANPE/LEC), in cooperation with the UNESCO Regional Office in Beirut, on the “INEEMinimum Standards for Education – The Lebanese Context”, issued in 2024. The meeting was held on 14 November 2025.
The meeting brought together around 70 representatives from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon, the Center for Educational Research and Development (CERD), the relevant United Nations organizations (UNESCO and UNICEF), international organizations (the International Committee of the Red Cross (IRC), AVSI Foundation, and Terre des Hommes Italia), the Global Campaign for Education, the Arab House for Adult Education and Development, as well as research centers, academic institutions, and Lebanese organizations active in the education sector, in addition to teachers, researchers, and education and education-policy advocates.
Participants were introduced to the international standards for education in emergencies and their recent updates, as well as to ways of applying and adapting them within the Lebanese context.
The meeting included presentations and group discussions on the Standards and on how international and local institutions in Lebanon—those implementing educational programs in general, and those operating during crises and emergencies in particular—can utilize them in the design and implementation of their educational projects and activities.
The meeting was organized within the framework of the project “Education Out Loud”, supported and funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening national, regional, and international partnerships in order to ensure the right to education for all under various circumstances, particularly in times of crisis.
