“Centre for Lebanese Studies” Publishes a Study on Education Justice in Times of War

17 June 2026

The Centre for Lebanese Studies (CLS) publishes a new study titled Education Justice in Times of War: Lebanon’s Compounded Crises and Unequal Futures”.

The study examines how the Israeli war on Lebanon, which expanded in 2 March 2026, reshaped educational access, continuity, and learning experiences within a broader context of compounding crises since 2019.

It relies on qualitative interviews and focus groups with principals, teachers, students, and parents, alongside a survey of 300 public school teachers.

The findings show that the war did not create a new educational crisis in isolation, but intensified long-standing structural inequalities. The report calls for a move beyond short-term continuity measures toward a comprehensive and equitable Education in Emergencies framework, one capable not only of surviving crises, but of protecting dignity, equity, and the right to meaningful learning for all.
