Egypt: ACCD Issues Its Annual Calendar
January 16, 2026
The Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD) in Egypt has released its annual calendar for the year 2026, themed around the values and principles of Child-Friendly Media.
Dr. Hassan Al-Bilawi, Secretary-General of the Council, stated that the annual calendar features a theme aligned with the Council’s strategic objectives each year. He explained that the Child-Friendly Media theme renews the call to establish an Arab media landscape that delivers positive content—blending entertainment with knowledge while respecting children’s rights and perspectives. He further noted that such media contributes to building supportive environments for children and continues to serve as a primary partner in their development and empowerment for a secure and sustainable future.
It is worth noting that the (ACCD) has championed the implementation of this media approach for years through its strategic project, the Media Observatory for the Arab Child Rights, in partnership with the League of Arab Nations and the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND).
Child-Friendly Media Workshop
In a related context, ACCD held a workshop titled Child-Friendly Media from December 8 to 10, 2025, in Muscat, the capital of Oman. This workshop was an extension of a series conducted by ACCD in partnership with the League of Arab Nations and AGFUND under the Media Observatory for Arab Child Rights project. The session was organized in cooperation with the Omani Ministries of Social Development and Information, Sultan Qaboos University, and the UNICEF office in Oman.

Approximately 30 media professionals representing various Omani media outlets, as well as several national ministries and relevant institutions, participated in the workshop. The program aimed to provide journalists with a comprehensive knowledge base regarding children’s rights and issues, and how to integrate these themes into media messaging and programming. The ultimate goal is to raise awareness among society and policymakers regarding childhood issues, rights, and protection.
