The Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD) in Egypt has released Issue 54 of Khotwa magazine, a specialized publication focusing on early childhood. The magazine is published by the Council in partnership with the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND).

The issue features a special dossier titled The Child and Artificial Intelligence, which discusses the impacts of AI on children, the opportunities to leverage it for learning and creativity, as well as the associated challenges and methods for addressing them from educational and family perspectives. The dossier covers several topics, including “Artificial Intelligence… Our Children’s Future in the Hands of a Machine”, and “Make Your Child a User of Technology, Not a Slave to It”.

Additionally, the issue contains various articles on social-emotional learning and emotional intelligence in children, magic in children’s stories, struggling children in Arab cinema, and a review of the World Bank report titled “The AI Revolution and Education”, among others.

Furthermore, the magazine presents an interactive activity titled “Make… Play… Learn” for crafting puppets out of cardboard boxes, an animated video story supplement titled “Together”, and a children’s poem titled “It is Beautiful of You to Ask”.

The upcoming issue of Khotwa will dedicate a dossier to “Accepting Diversity and Difference in Children”, alongside an invitation to those interested in childhood issues to contribute articles and educational experiences.
