UNESCO will host an international symposium titled “The Right to Education at a Crossroads: Renewing Global Commitments and Charting Future Pathways” on 9 December 2025, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France.

The event marks World Human Rights Day and the 65th anniversary of the 1960 Convention against Discrimination in Education. It will also close the 11th Consultation on the 1960 Convention and launch the 2025 Global Report on the Right to Education. The symposium will review progress, discuss challenges, and renew global commitments to the right to education.

The event will feature high-level speakers, expert panels, and thematic discussions. It will highlight innovations in law, policy, and practice. Topics include digitalization, artificial intelligence, climate change, inclusion, displacement, and the teaching profession. Member States, civil society, youth, and experts will come together to share ideas and strengthen partnerships.
